Hummingbird hollow

Post  Hummingbird Hollow on Mon Aug 10, 2009 10:03 am

This spring I tried to start up a group that would meet here once a week and have a bit of doggie fun, followed with coffee and a bonfire or whatever. I bought/built a few agility things and had a few 'dates" but it never amounted to much. If anyone is interested we could try again. I am about twenty minutes south west of the city near Pike Lake.

I am almost positive myself and my wife would love to take part in this... Maybe we could get a group togethor. Be a great way to meet new people as well.
I have been looking into doing some scent tracking with Andy, as she is very keen with her nose. But I would like to do some basic obedience and agility first....

Doggy Group,

Post  Megan on Thu Aug 13, 2009 10:19 am

I do agility with my two dogs (cocker spaniels) starting up in the fall again - but we are always looking for fun things to keep them physically and mentally active. If you were to start up a small group my husband and I would come for SURE! along with Dante and Emint our two beautiful pups.

If you do get something started or think more seriously about it please emial me at leach.dm@gmail.com (I'm new to this site and not sure how it works, so email might be the best way to get ahold of me).

Well, lets try for next Thursday evening, does that work for you?

I am about twenty minutes from the city. Everyone is welcome, just let me know if your coming so we know how many to expect, and also what your interested in so we can plan a little bit.

Just curious if you are still doing this. I would be interested as well. I know have a foster puppy staying with us so he would eventually be coming too but still too young I would think.
Andy has never had any obedience(yet) or agility and I am curious how she would do and if she will show interest in agility.

Thanks!

Great! Sounds like we will have a nice group. Lets try for 7:00. Directions are here http://hbhollow.ca/directions.html -- if it ends up being bad weather we will need to cancel. 384-2528 if you need to call for anything.

This is going to sound like a really dumb question but we bring our dogs too, right? It's not just for the "mom's and dad's"?

Yes bring them. I have agility stuff, or if you want to work on obedience - we can talk and see what everyone wants to work on. If we want to set up a weekly "class" - whatever. I am not a professional trainer but have helped with a few beginner classes, and maybe others can also help???
I am boarding a dog for a fellow who was a trainer at a pet store, they are away till the end of the month but may join later.

Just come and we can see what we want to do. There is no charge, we can have coffee after and maybe donuts if I make it to the city that day.

I am interested in both agility and obedience. I am quite curious how my dog will do as she has had no formal training... I think we could easily bring donuts as we come from city anyway.

I put a post on Kijiji, and am quite excited by the response! I think there have been aout ten people say they are interested, from this group and the ad. Now, I know they won't all show up, but its a great start.

If you don't mind bringing some donuts, I will put the coffee on, and some cold drinks too I think.

We had a great time tonight! I think the threat of rain kept a few people away but we had a pretty good turnout for our first time. We did a bit of obedience, a bit of agility, and a bit of visiting and free play. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks for the donuts and choc. chip cookies :-)

I never even thought to take photos - one of Bailey and Frank hopping over the jump would be good..... next time maybe.

We will get together next Thursday -- everyone is welcome!

I had a great time and was very excited to see my puppy do so well. I was nervous on the way as she has never attended anything formal. Any training had been done by myself and it was all based on books, and articles I read...
Can't wait for next week, I can bring my camera, I have a Lumix which shoots in high def. and is the easiest camera in the world to use... I love it...

Andy did really well, she was certianly very well behaved. Actually, when we were playing follow the leader I was impressed at how well everyone did. A lot of fun too I think!
